RENFE  Tourist Trains General Terms & Conditions: El Transcantábrico, El Expreso de La Robla & Trenes Turísticos del Norte.

Unforeseen Circumstances

The itineraries may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond the control of the Organizer or to problems that can occur in the normal operation of the rail network on which Trenes Turísticos runs.

In these cases, the Organiser will adopt the most appropriate solutions for continuing the organized trip, with no extra charge to passengers. If passengers continue the journey with the solutions provided by the Organisation, this is understood to signify tacit acceptance of these proposals .

Method of Payment 

  • Normal journeys: To reserve places during the Normal, Season, after receiving the confirmation from Trenes Turísticos, Travel Agents or Clients must put down a deposit of  40% of the rate for that year, minus the corresponding commission. The balance of 60% must be paid a minimum of 15 days before the start of the journey. In case of cancellation a fee will be charged according to the policy bellow, even if the 40% deposit has not yet been transferred.
  • Charter journeys: To contract a charter journey (outside the normal season), Travel Agencies or Clients must put down a deposit of 40% of the total of the fixed costs quoted for that journey. At this time, the Organization will automatically block out the date so that it is reserved. (If the deposit for 40% of the journey is not made, a firm reservation is not considered to have been made). The balance of 60% must be paid a minimum of 15 days before the start of the journey .

Once the transfer haf been made, it will be sent by email ( trenesturisticosdelujo@feve.es ) or fax (+34 985 981 710) to RENFE  Trenes Turísticos Organization, wich will acknowledge that payment has been made.

Cancellations

Travel agencies or Clients can cancel reservations at any time, and have the right to a refund of the amount that they have paid, except for 15% of the total, wich is charged as a handling and reservation guarantee fee. This fee increases as cancellations are made nearer to the departure date:

  • Cancellations made between 30 and 15 days before the journey: 25% of the total to be pay.
  • Cancellations made between 14 and 05 days, before the journey: 50% of the total to be pay.
  • Cancellations made between 04 and 01 days, before the journey : 80% of the total to be pay.
  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours before the journey or no show: 100% of the total to be paid.

Once the reservation has been formalised, appropriate cancellation fees will apply. A deadline of four days for national agencies and seven days for international agencies is set for the receipy by RENFE's Tourist Trains of the deposits each agency must take in order to confirm the bookings, in accordance with the relevant General Booking Conditions. Filure to comply with these deadlines will lead to automatic cancellation of the reservation, and the subsequent fee for expenses.

There will be no cancellation expenses in the first 72 hours or if the client changes from one departure date to another, as long as we are given 30 days' warning and the trip is carried out within the space of a year. If, after changing the reservation, the client cancels it, the expenses will be the 100% of the total. If the date is changed and we are not informed wth 30 days' warning, there will be a penalty of the 15% of the total. See more

RENFE Tourist Trains recommends purchasing travel insurance to cover cancellation expenses through your travel agency or insurance company.

RENFE Trenes Turísticos recommends that passengers take out a travel insurance policy to cover the Cancellation Fee through their travel agent or insurance agent.
